Power Automate Application Integrations - Overview

Take care of what’s important, automate the rest

In our previous article, we looked over the benefits of Microsoft Power Platform Power Automate and how it helps users have a truly work-focused “flow experience”. Today's post aims to provide you with practical tips on the most popular Power Automate application integrations.

What is Power Automate?

As you know, by leveraging Power Automate, without any prior developer skills you can create automated workflows with just a couple of mouse clicks. It makes your day-to-day work, whether at an individual or organizational level, much more efficient. The best part is yet to come. Power Automate platform integrates with more than 300 external data sources, and we've collected some practical and useful use cases for 6 of the most popular applications:

  • Dropbox;
  • Dynamics 365;
  • Notifications;
  • Google Calendar;
  • Office 365 Outlook;
  • Office 365 Users.

Dropbox and Power Automate

Dropbox cloud storage needs no introduction: it's secure and ideal for sharing, protecting and synchronizing files. By connecting it with Power Automate, Dropbox can play an even more useful role in your daily work:

Automatically save all email attachments to a predefined Dropbox folder, so you no longer have to search through your emails;

Set up automatic notifications (email, even SMS) when a new file is uploaded;

Synchronize your Dropbox, OneDrive, Sharepoint and Google Drive accounts so your files are available on all platforms.

Dynamics 365 Automations

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a cloud-based solution that merges the capabilities of CRM software and ERP systems for a more efficient sales process. By linking Dynamics 365 with Power Automate, you can automate a wide range of sales, marketing, financial, commercial, and customer-service processes. The sales opportunities management is a relevant example. Automatic notifications of opportunities can be set up with Power Automate, enabling sales teams to always act efficiently in due time, maximizing the effectiveness of sales processes.

Notifications

Using Notifications, you can not only easily track workflows, but also create and send personalized notifications and reminders in sync with a range of other applications. For example, by linking Power Automate, you can request an automatic push message to your mobile when a new entry is added to a SQL database, or when a new file is uploaded to OneDrive or when a new response to a questionnaire is received. In addition, you can send yourself customized scheduled reminders that are activated when, for example, an event is about to end, or if an email has been unanswered for a long time, or when you arrive at work. Notifications and Power Automate work hand in hand to make sure you never forget a task.

Google Calendar

Most of us use Google's online calendar in one way or another, as it makes it easy to keep track of daily plans, recurring events, and reminders. Using Power Automate, you can publish events on Slack or even set up automatic Twitter posts for big events, so everyone on your team is notified in time. In addition, Power Automate can be used to automatically create tasks in Google Tasks, ensuring that nothing goes overlooked. With this platform, Google Calendar can be easily synchronized with Outlook calendar, making it easy to keep track of and manage both business responsibilities and personal events.

Office 365 Outlook

By using Office 365 Outlook with Power Automate, you can automatically redirect emails to other services, and receive notifications when specific customers want to contact you. Connecting Outlook and Power Platform allows you to automatically generate workflows: for example email notifications of a completed report, or different approval requests. It helps you clear email bottlenecks and backlogs by simply using forwarding rules. Email attachments can be quickly and easily saved to OneDrive, Dropbox, or even to the Google Drive account, so they are always available in one place.

Office 365 Users

With the combined power of Office 365 Users and Power Automate, you can access your organization’s user profiles via your Office 365 account. The integration provides useful actions, such as receiving notifications when mentioned in an email or automatically saving messages to OneNote. The connection between Office 365 Users and Power Automate allows you to create automated role-and-unit-based processes. For example, you can create approval processes and have a submitted request automatically sent to the applicant’s supervisor, thus speeding up and simplifying the process.

Microsoft Power Automate used with connectors* is a practical solution that requires no prior developer skills and fully automates workflows, thus making your daily office life much easier.

*A connector is a proxy or a wrapper around an API that allows the underlying service to talk to Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps, and Azure Logic Apps. It provides a way for users to connect their accounts and leverage a set of prebuilt actions and triggers to build their apps and workflows.
